ESIC Launches First-of-its-Kind Factory Health Adoption Program in Kolkata at BCL


Kolkata, 29th April 2025:  In a landmark initiative, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Joka under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, organized its first-ever Factory Health Adoption Program in Kolkata. The program was conducted in collaboration with Braithwaite & Co. Limited (BCL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways.

Shri Sanjeev Rastogi, Director (Production), and Shri R. Veerabahu, Director (Finance) of BCL, felicitated the chief guests — Prof. Dr. Nandakishore Alva N, Dean of ESI Medical Services, and Dr. Jayanta Karmakar, HOD, ISO & Emergency Medicine. The event was coordinated by Shri Saheb Guha Roy, Manager (P&A) and team HR of BCL.  


Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Alva stated, “It is a matter of great pride for us to launch the Factory Health Adoption Program in West Bengal, beginning with a historic and prestigious company like Braithwaite & Co. Limited.” He highlighted that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between hospitals and industrial workplaces, providing direct, continuous healthcare services within factory premises — a first-of-its-kind program in India.

He further added that “For Braithwaite employees, a dedicated team of ESIC doctors will remain in constant touch with the company, working closely with the designated nodal officer. The team will collect regular feedback, make monthly visits, and organize routine health check-up camps to ensure preventive care and early intervention.

যেখানে প্রতিটা মুহূর্ত দামী : মনিপাল হসপিটাল ব্রডওয়ের ডাক্তার মধ্য আকাশে যাত্রীর প্রাণ বাঁচালেন

কলকাতা, ডিসেম্বর ২০, ২০২৪: মাটির থেকে যখন যাত্রী ঠাসা উড়োজাহাজ যখন হাজার হাজার ফিট উপরে, তখনই কখনও কখনও মেডিক্যাল ইমার্জেন্সী দেখা দেয়। এরকমই এক ঘটনায় একজন যাত্রীর শ্বাসকষ্ট শুরু হয় আর দ্রুত তার চামড়া যেন মলিন হতে শরীর করে। বাকি যাত্রীরা সকলেই চিন্তিত হয়ে পড়েন কিন্তু কি করবেন কূলকিনারা করতে পারছিলেন না। এই অবস্থায় ডঃ স্মিতা মৈত্র, কনসালটেন্ট এবং ইমার্জেন্সী বিভাগের দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত, মনিপাল হসপিটাল, ব্রডওয়ে এগিয়ে আসেন পরিস্থিতি সামাল দিতে। এই ঘটনাটি হয় গত ৬ই ডিসেম্বর কলকাতা - দিল্লি ফ্লাইটে, যেখানে বিকানেরের ৪৫ বছর বয়সী মহিলা হঠাৎই হাইপারটেনশিভ হার্ট ফেলিওরের সম্মুখীন হন। ঘটনাচক্রে ওনার উচ্চ রক্তচাপের লম্বা ইতিহাস রয়েছে। এই যাত্রী, একাই কলকাতা থেকে দিল্লি যাচ্ছিলেন। মধ্য আকাশে তখন উড়োজাহাজ ওড়ার স্রেফ পনেরো মিনিট হয়েছে, শরীর খারাপ হতে শুরু করে। প্রথমে শরীর একটু ভালো না লাগা থেকে শুরু হয়ে রীতিমত শ্বাসকষ্ট শুরু হয়। এর সাথে অসম্ভব বুকে ব্যথা আর চোকিং হওয়ার মত পরিস্থিতি তৈরি হয়। দ্রুত সংকটজনক পরিস্থিতি তৈরি হয় এই যাত্রীর - খুব ঘামতে শুরু করেন তিনি। খুব ছটফট ...

সর্বভারতীয় পরিষদের ৫০ বছর উপলক্ষে বারাসাত রবীন্দ্র ভবনে ডাক টিকিট প্রকাশ করলো ভারতীয় ডাক বিভাগ

ইন্দ্রজিৎ আইচ  গুরুশিষ্য পরম্পরা ও আধুনিকতা - এই সবটা মিলে সর্বভারতীয় সঙ্গীত ও সংস্কৃতি পরিষদ। পরিষদের পথচলা শুরু হয়েছিল ১৯৭৬ সালে। দেখতে দেখতে ২০২৫শে পঞ্চাশ বছরে পদার্পণ করেছে পরিষদ। সেই উপলক্ষে গত ২৭ নভেম্বর বুধবার বারাসাত রবীন্দ্র ভবনে  এক অনুষ্ঠানে  ভারতীয় ডাক বিভাগ সর্বভারতীয় সঙ্গীত ও সংস্কৃতি পরিষদের ৫০ বছর উপলক্ষে একটি ডাক টিকিট প্রকাশ করলো। সেই অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্যে দিয়ে পরিষদের যুগ্ম সম্পাদক ড. শান্তনু সেনগুপ্তের হাতে পরিষদ নামাঙ্কিত ডাকটিকিট তুলে দেন ভারতীয় ডাক বিভাগের উচ্চপদস্থ কর্তাব্যক্তি  ভূপাল মজুমদার,  সন্দীপ কুমার এবং  সুজয় ব্যানার্জী মহাশয়।   সারা পৃথিবী জুড়ে ৫ হাজার পরিষদ অনুমোদিত কেন্দ্র রয়েছে। প্রতিবছর সমাবর্তন উৎসবে অসংখ্য ছাত্রছাত্রীদের হাতে মানপত্র, মেডেল তুলে দেওয়া হয়। গত তিন বছর ধরে ইউরোপেও সর্বভারতীয় সঙ্গীত ও সংস্কৃতি পরিষদ এর সমাবর্তন উৎসব অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে। সুবর্ণ জয়ন্তী বর্ষে পরিষদের সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে আগামী ২৯ মার্চ ২০২৫ শনিবার কলকাতার নেতাজি ইন্ডোর স্টেডিয়ামে। এই সমাবর্তনে উপস্থিত থাক...
