ESIC Launches First-of-its-Kind Factory Health Adoption Program in Kolkata at BCL


Kolkata, 29th April 2025:  In a landmark initiative, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Joka under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, organized its first-ever Factory Health Adoption Program in Kolkata. The program was conducted in collaboration with Braithwaite & Co. Limited (BCL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways.

Shri Sanjeev Rastogi, Director (Production), and Shri R. Veerabahu, Director (Finance) of BCL, felicitated the chief guests — Prof. Dr. Nandakishore Alva N, Dean of ESI Medical Services, and Dr. Jayanta Karmakar, HOD, ISO & Emergency Medicine. The event was coordinated by Shri Saheb Guha Roy, Manager (P&A) and team HR of BCL.  


Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Alva stated, “It is a matter of great pride for us to launch the Factory Health Adoption Program in West Bengal, beginning with a historic and prestigious company like Braithwaite & Co. Limited.” He highlighted that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between hospitals and industrial workplaces, providing direct, continuous healthcare services within factory premises — a first-of-its-kind program in India.

He further added that “For Braithwaite employees, a dedicated team of ESIC doctors will remain in constant touch with the company, working closely with the designated nodal officer. The team will collect regular feedback, make monthly visits, and organize routine health check-up camps to ensure preventive care and early intervention.
